ुक्ति ुक्तं प्रगृह्णीात् बालादपि विचक्षणः। रवेरविषयं वस्तु किं दीपः प्रकाशयेत्॥

Yukti yuktam pragrih-ṇīyaat baalaadapi vichakshaṇah.
Raver-aviṣhayaṃ vastu kim na dīpah prakaashayet.

The wise should learn to accept wisdom from anybody, even from a child.
Doesn’t the small night lamp light up things which the sun can not?​

लोकाः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु

Lokaah samastaah sukhino bhavantu

May everyone, everywhere be happy.

वृथा वृष्टिः समुद्रेषु वृथा तृप्तेषु भोजनम्  |
वृथा दानधनाढ्येषु वृथा दीपो दिवाSपि    ||

Vrithaa vriṣhṭih samudre-shu vrithaa tripteshu bhojanam.
Vrithaa daane dhanaa-ḍhyeshu vrithaa deepo divaa-api cha.

Rain over the ocean is futile; donating food to a satiated person is useless. Giving of donation to a rich person is like lighting a lamp during day time which is futile.
