rakshitaa-dityaa iṣhavah.

ebhyo astu. Yo’smaan dveṣhṭi yam-vayam
dviṣhmas-tam vo jambhe dadhmah.8

Om dakshiṇaa
dig-indro-‘dhi-patis-tirash-chi-rajee
rakshitaa pitara iṣhavah.
Tebhyo namo-‘dhipati-bhyo namo
rakshi-tribhyo nama iṣhu-bhyo nama
ebhyo astu. Yo’smaan dveṣhṭi yam vayam
dviṣhmas-tam vo jambhe dadhmah.9

Prateechee dig-varuṇo-‘dhi-patih
pridaakoo-rakshitaa-namiṣhavah.
Tebhyo namo-‘dhipati-bhyo namo
rakshi-tribhyo nama iṣhu-bhyo nama
ebhyo astu. Yo’smaan dveṣhṭi yam vayam

Udeechee dik somo-‘dhipatih
svajo-rakshitaa-shanir-iṣhavah.

Dhruvaa dig-viṣhṇur-adhipatih
kalmaaṣha-greevo rakshitaa veerudha iṣhavah.
Tebhyo namo-‘dhipati-bhyo namo
rakshi-tribhyo nama iṣhu-bhyo nama
ebhyo astu. Yo’smaan dveṣhṭi yam vayam
dviṣhmas-tam vo jambhe dadhmah.12

Oordh-vaa dig-brihaspatir-adhipatih
shvitro rakshitaa varṣham-iṣhavah.
Tebhyo namo-‘dhipati-bhyo namo
rakshi-tribhyo nama iṣhu-bhyo nama

Upasthaanam

Om ud-vayam tamasas-pari-svah
pash-yanta uttaram.
Devam devatraa sooryam-aganma

devam vahanti ketavah.

Chitram devaanaam-ud-agaad-aneekam
chakshur-mitrasya varuṇasya-agneh.

Om shaantih shaantih shaantih

  2. In this mantra, the words are repeated – as in vaak-vaak, the repetition is aimed at the double reference of the organ. For example, vaak – organ of speech – and vaak – power of speech, thus both speech and the organ that creates it are blessed

  4. Ritam and satyam are two concepts of vedic wisdom. Ritam is truth, satyam is ultimate truth. For example, if there is a flowing river, the existence of the river is satyam, the flow is ritam, they both complement each other. Example: Husband & Wife relationship can sever, but it is husband and wife, thus ritam; mother and child cannot sever/separate, thus satyam.
