आचमनम्Aachamanam

Sipping of water

Take a little water in the right palm for each mantra and sip at the end of the mantra1

ओम् अमृतोपस्तरणमसि स्वाहा

Om amrit-opastara-ṇamasi svaahaa.

ओम् अमृतापिधानमसि स्वाहा

Om amritaa-pidhaanam-asi svaahaa.

ओं सत्यं यशः श्रीर्मयि श्रीः श्रयतां स्वाहा

Om satyam yashah shreer-mayi shreeh shrayataam svaahaa.2

अङ्गस्पर्शः – Anga Sparsha

Anga Sparsha3: Touching various parts of the body:
With water in the palm of the left hand, use the middle & ring finger of the right hand to touch the parts of the body

ओं वाङ्म आस्येऽस्तु

Om vaaṅg-ma aasye‘stu. (mouth)

ओं नसोर्मे प्राणोऽस्तु

Om nasor-me praaṅo‘stu. (nostrils)

ओम् अक्ष्णोर्मे चक्षुरस्तु

Om akshṅor-me chakshur-astu. (eyes)

ओं कर्णयोर्मे श्रोत्रमस्तु

Om karṇa-yor-me shrotram-astu. (ears)

ओं बाह्वोर्मे बलमस्तु

Om baah-vor-me balam-astu. (shoulders)

ओम् ऊर्वोर्म ओजोऽस्तु

Om oorvor-ma ojo‘stu. (thighs)

ओम् अरिष्टानि मेऽङ्गानि तनूस्तन्वा मे सह सन्तु

Om ariṣh-ṭaani me-aṅgaani tanoos-tanvaa me saha santu (sprinkle all over)
