Aadmee musafir hai

Aadmee musafir hai, aataa hai, jaataa hai
Aate jaate raste me yaade chhoṛ jaataa hai

Jhokaa havaa kaa, paanee ka relaa
Mele me rah jaae jo akelaa
Phir vo akelaa hee raha jaataa hai

Kab chhoṛtaa hai ye rog jee kaa
Dil bhool jaataa hai jab kiseekaa
Vo bhoolkar bhee yaad aataa hai

Kyaa saath laae, kyaa toṛ aaye
Raste me ham kyaa kyaa choṛ aaye
Manzil pe jaa ke yaad aataa hai

Jab ḍoltee hai jeevan kee naiyaa
Koi to ban jaataa hai khevaiyyaa
Koi kinaare pe hee ḍoob jaataa hai

Roṭee hai aakho jaltaa hai dil
Jab apne ghar ke phaike diye se
Aangan paraayaa jagmagaataa hai

Everyone is a traveler in this journey called life. We come into this body, into this life, once, and then depart. Along the journey, we create and leave memories.

Life is filled with challenges. A rainstorm of emotions may sweep across us. Sometimes, feelings and reactions blow in all directions like a gale. They force us to face the storms of challenges in life. But through these storms, we must make individual decisions and, one day, depart alone.

Sometimes we can courageously put things aside and try to forget about them. Sometimes we try to set aside the relationships and the people we meet. But even so, our minds are drawn back to those memories and experiences at the end of the journey.

There are things we may have chosen to bring along on our journey through life. There are also things we may have rejected and set aside. There may be moments of acceptance and rejection. But whatever we did and whatever the outcomes were, we remember at the end of the journey.

Life’s journey moves like a boat in an ocean. It sways and rocks. Sometimes it gets thrown off-course. But we may get guidance and assistance to steady our journey. And through the journey, we see those who are trapped and mired in the illusory banks of this ocean.

Sometimes we see the good in everything. But when confused, we see pain in everything. Let us remember that a light in our courtyard will spread to others. Be happy and let your happiness spread to others.

Mohammed Rafi; Movie: Anapan 1977
