शिवधनुष राम ने तोड़ा
मिला चन्द्र-चकोर का जोड़ा
जनकपुरी से नाता तोड़ा
अवधपुरी से जोड़ा
कोमल थी वो कली
सुखों में पली
वनों में चली
बहुत दुःख पाये
सुन कर उसकी व्यथा
नैन भर आते हैं
रावन ने छल करी
सिया को हरी
विधी क्या करी
जो था बन पाई
सीता-सीता करें
बिरह में जरें
बनों में फिरें
विकल रघुराई
पवनपुत्र वहाँ आये
सुधि को धाये
युक्ति बहु कीन्हीं
सिया सुधि पाई
राम कोप कर बढ़े
लन्क पर चढ़े
फूँक दइ लन्क
सिया लौट आई
जैसे दिये में तेल
तेल में बाट
बाट में तेज प्रकासे
तसे राम हृदय में सिया
सिया हिये रामई बासे
क्या बिना प्राण के अमर
दही कहीं देही
क्या यही राम दरबार
कहाँ वैदेही
Let us listen to the story of a graceful and respected Sita, the darling of the royal Mithala family.
When the great Raam broke the Shivadhanush (Shiva’s bow), Sita happily got married to him and left her home city to be with Raama. Soft and luxurious upbringing and happy childhood days were cast aside as she had to soon walk in the jungle barefooted. This story brings tears to the eyes of all.
Treacherous Ravana tricked Sita and kidnapped her. What could Sita do? In despair and desperation, Raama walked the forest crying for Sita.
The great Pavanputra Hanuman came to assist Rama. They strategize and eventually defeated Lanka and Ravana, bringing Sita back.
Like oil in a lamp that allows light to be upon a wick, the light of Sita shines in the heart of Raam. What is light without its source, what is immortality without the soul? And where, O where are our Sita and Raama today?
