राखी धागों का त्यौहार

Rakhi is an auspicious festival. The thread used in Rakhi symbolizes the intrinsic bond and natural love between sisters and brothers.

The brother/sister relationship is sweet and beautiful. This Raksha Bandhan festival reminds us of this, its rakhi thread reminds us of the hope and aspiration flowing in the sister’s mind.

The sister prays for a long life for the brother. She also asks God for protection for the brother from any evil. She likens the brother to a King. The sister says that even though she may have to leave the home (to go to the home of her husband), the bond shall continue and she shall see the brother at least once yearly, on rakhi festival.

The brother pledges his love and protection for the sister. The string tied by the sister symbolizes the never-ending bond of love between the sister and brother. The bond between sister and brother shall exist as long as the world exists.
