इन्द्रियस्पर्शं – Indriya-sparsha1
Touching the limbs: With water in the left palm, use the middle and ring fingers of the right hand to touch the different parts of the body (right then left sides)
ओं वाक् वाक् । ओं प्राणः प्राणः । ओं चक्षुः चक्षुः । ओं श्रोत्रं श्रोत्रं ।
ओं नाभिः । ओं हृदयँ । ओं कण्ठः । ओं शिरः ।
ओं बाहुभ्यां यशोबलं । ओं करतलकरपृष्ठे ॥

तन-मन-वचनसे होंगो हम शुद्ध कर्मकारी।
दुष्कर्मसे बचेंगी सब इन्द्रियॉ हमारा।
वाणी विशुद्ध होगी, प्रिय प्राण पुण्यशाली।
होंगी हमारी ऑखें यह दिव्य ज्योतिवाली।
ये कान ज्ञान-भूषित, यह नाभि पष्टिकारी॥
होगा हॄदय, दयामय! सम्यक् युधर्मधारी।
भगवान्! तेरी गाथा, गायेगा कण्ठ मेरा।
सिरमें सदा रमेगा, गौरव-गुरूत्व तेरा॥
होंगे ये हाथ मेरे यश-ओज-तेजधारी।
मेरी हथे़लियॉ भी हथोंगी पवित्र-प्यारी॥
Tan man vachan se honge, ham shuddh karm kaaree,
Duṣh-karm se bachengee, sab indriyaa hamaaree
Vaaṇee vishuddh hogee, priya praaṇ puṇya-shaalee
Hongee hamaaree aakhe, ye divya jyoti-waalee
Ye kaan jyaan bhooṣhit, ye naabhi puṣhṭi-kaaree
Hogaa hṛidai, Dayamai! Samyak sudharm dhaaree
Bhagavaan! teree gaathaa gaayegaa kaṇṭh meraa
Sir me sadaa ramegaa, gaurav gurutva teraa
Honge ye haath mere yash oj tej-dhaaree
Meree hathe-liyaa bhee hongee pavitra pyaaree.
I make a vow before Thy sacred Throne
To try and hold my mortal heart away
From sin my human organs shall be prone
To keep the word I give Thee on this day.
My tongue, my nose and both the sides of palm,
My eyes, my ears, the genitals and my heart
My hands, my throat, my head, serene and calm,
Will surely remain from sinful deeds apart.
O Lord, You are the Absolute Truth and the Origin of Speech. Let my speech be disciplined and truthful. May I speak only what is beneficial, reflecting Your veracity.
You are the Eternal Breath and the Life Force of the Cosmos. Let my vital energy be rhythmic and sustained. May my life-force be dedicated to high purpose, reflecting Your endless vitality.
You are the Ultimate Observer; Your vision encompasses all reality without bias. Let my vision be clear. May I see the world with objectivity and insight, reflecting Your omnipresent gaze.
You are the Hearer of All, the Repository of all Knowledge. Let my ears be open only to Wisdom. May I filter out the noise of gossip and ignorance, listening only to Truth.
You are the Central Hub (Nabhi) that holds the spinning universe together. Let me be Centered. In the chaos of life, may I remain grounded and stable, never unraveling.
You are the Seat of Pure Will and Compassion. Let my heart be pure. May I be free from malice and emotional turbulence, reflecting Your divine love.
You are the Sound and the Vibration of the Universe. Let my voice have conviction. May my expression be firm and clear, free from the hesitation of doubt.”
You are the Supreme Intellect, the Head of all existence. Let my intellect be sovereign. May my reason rule over my passions, just as You rule over the cosmos.”
You possess Infinite Strength (Balam) and Glory (Yashas). Let my strength be glorious. May I use my power only to protect and build, never to oppress.
You are the Great Doer, whose hands shaped the galaxies. Let my actions be an offering. Whether seen (palm) or unseen (back of hand), may every act of mine be a service to Your creation.

- There are two sparshas – indriya sparsha and manas sparsha – for development of sukh over dukh. The Sandhya contains both; it is the science of examining the relationship between an object and a sense and detachment from the object so that the sense does not control the mind.
- In this mantra, the words are repeated – as in vaak-vaak, the repetition is aimed at the double reference of the organ. For example, vaak – organ of speech – and vaak – power of speech, thus both speech and the organ that creates it are blessed
- The navel is the centre of one of the chakras – the manipura chakra. It also is that mid-point between the centers of procreation/excretion and the heart center (a major chakra)
- The Heart centre is a Chakra centre – the anahata chakra. It represents a major biological organ, is referred to as a major emotive center, what goes into the heart gets delivered everywhere – to every cell, it is also the seat of worship.
- Throat is another major chakra the vishuddha chakra. It is also the seat of the thyroid gland that critically contributes to our growth and development
- The aajya chakra and sahasrara chakra are at the center between the eyes and the top of the head. The center between the eyes is the meditative center, associated with the third eye, the inner eye. It also relates to the biologically crucial function of the pituitary gland.
