Sighting of pole star
The bride and groom go out to the night sky (the northern side of the home).
The groom points towards the pole star (ध्रुव नक्षत्र), also known as the north star.
The groom says:
ध्रुवं पश्य॥
Dhruvam pashya.

Om dhruvamasi dhruvaaham patikule bhooyaasam (Name of bride and groom).
May I be firm like the well-known North Star (Dhruva); may my family all around me always see my presence and value.

ओम् अरुन्धत्यसि रूद्धाहमस्मि (अमुष्यः असौ)॥
Om arundhatyasi rood-dha-ahamasi (Name of bride and groom).
Like the secure and firmly placed shining Morning Star (Arundhati), my place in our family is firm and secure.

Bridegroom looks at Bride, places his hand at her forehead and says:
ओं ध्रुवा द्यौर्ध्रुवा पृथिवी ध्रुवं विश्वमिदं जगत्।
श्वासः पर्वता इमे ध्रुवा स्त्री पतिकुले इयम्॥
Om dhruvaa dyaurdhruvaa prithivee dhruvam vishvamidam jagat.
Dhruvaasah parvataa ime dhruvaa stree patikule iyam.
O Lord, may this beautiful wife be as firm and as bright as the North Star in even the most challenging situation or biggest problems. May she shine in our family.

ओं ध्रुवमसि धुवं त्वा पश्यामि ध्रुवैधि पोष्ये मयि ।
मह्यं त्वादाद् बृहस्पतिर्मया पत्या प्रजावती संजीव शरदः शतम् ॥
Dhruvasi dhruvam tvaa pashyaami dhruvaidhi poṣhye mayi.
Mahyam tvaadaad brihaspatir-mayaa patyaa prajaapatee samjeeva sharadah shatam.
The great North Star is a permanent mark in the sky, providing directions since the birth of civilization. May the sight of this Star bless us with similar majesty. O Belevolent God, please bless us with prosperity, children and long life.
