Inviting the Priest to lead the Yajya:1
The host says:
Om-aa-vasoh sadane seeda2
The priest replies:
Om see-daa-mi.
By the Grace of God, I accept this noble duty.
The host says:
…Aham-adya-ukta-karma3 karaṇaaya bhavantam vriṇe.
The priest says:
Vṛito-‘smi.
By the Grace of God, I accept this noble duty.
- A priest can lead us into prayer, in such cases, this formal appointment is done. However, Havan is a daily duty for everyone.
- Gobhil Grihyasutra 1.6.5
- In the place of karma, the type of yajya to be performed can be mentioned.
