Dhire dhire mor too

Dhire dhire moṛ too is man ko
Is man ko, is man ko

Man moṛaa phir ḍar nahee
Koee door prabhu kaa ghar nahėe
Dhire dhire moṛ too is man ko
Is man ko, is man ko

Man lobhee, man kapaṭee, man hai chor
Kahate aaye yahȧa pal mė or
Kuchh jaan le kuchh maan le
Ho naa hai vichalit nahėe
Koee door prabhu kaa ghar nahėe
Dhire dhire moṛ too is man ko
Is man ko, is man ko

Japa tapa teertha – sab hote bekaar
Jab tak man mė rehete bhare vikaar
Beimaan kyȯ, naadaan kyȯ
Gaphalata aise kar nahėe
Koee door prabhu kaa ghar nahėe
Dhire dhire moṛ too is man ko
Is man ko, is man ko

Jeet liyaa man phir eeshvar nahėe door
Jaan bujhaa kar indsaan kyoo majboor
Abhyaas se, vairaagya se
Kuchh bhee hai duṣhkar nahėe
Koee door prabhu kaa ghar nahėe
Dhire dhire moṛ too is man ko
Is man ko, is man ko

Tune: Dheere Dheere Bol Koi Sun Na Le

Audio/video:https://youtu.be/uTR7JmclEho

So slowly, so gently, just turn your own mind,
This wandering mind,
This untethered mind.
If the mind has been turned, then you don’t need to fear,
The home of the Lord is now wonderfully near.
So slowly, so gently, just turn your own mind,
This wandering mind,
This untethered mind.

The mind can be greedy, deceitful, a thief,
It changes its story, as brief as a leaf.
Just know this and own this, and you will be fine,
Don’t let your soul stray from the sacred design.
If the mind has been turned, then you don’t need to fear,
The home of the Lord is now wonderfully near.
So slowly, so gently, just turn your own mind,
This wandering mind,
This untethered mind.

Your chants and your journeys are all thrown away,
If vices and flaws in your mind hold their sway.
So why be dishonest? So why be unwise?
Don’t live in the shade of these comfortable lies.
If the mind has been turned, then you don’t need to fear,
The home of the Lord is now wonderfully near.
So slowly, so gently, just turn your own mind,
This wandering mind,
This untethered mind.

Once the mind has been conquered, your God is not far,
Why choose to be helpless, no matter who you are?
With practice, detachment, and spirit so true,
There is nothing too difficult for you to do.
If the mind has been turned, then you don’t need to fear,
The home of the Lord is now wonderfully near.
So slowly, so gently, just turn your own mind,
This wandering mind,
This untethered mind.

– meaning rendered by Dr Yog Mahadeo

Gradually, slowly but surely, train your mind to focus on God. Do not be hesitant to pray, do not be fearful of anything for God is always close to us. Let your mind slowly and gradually focus on God’s worship, on His name, and you will see how close he always is to you.

The mind can easily become consumed by greed and deceit. The mind can quickly cause us to lose everything, including our own minds. Our mind tells us, every moment, to listen to this or believe something else. It keeps flitting from one thought to another if not controlled.

If we cannot control the mind and its passions and desires, then all of our worship is mere distracted repetitions. Let us not be hypocritical in our devotion; let us focus our minds on God. Let us not attempt to be dishonest to God or ourselves in mindless repetition. Instead, focus and let your mind remain in a state of constant awareness of God.

With determination and practice, we can realise how close the Almighty is to us. However, we must first control our minds. Practice mind control, cultivate self-awareness, and focus the mind on God. With constant practice, we can conquer and rise above desires and temptations and attune ourselves to the realization of an ever-present God in our lives.
