Jis dhan par maan kare too, O bande
Na saath tere hai jaanaa, na isane paar lagaanaa
Jhooṭh phareb se kare ikṭee kartaa maaree-maar
Dharma ke dhan ko chhor kare too, jhooṭhe dhan se pyaar
Nahee kaam tere ye aanaa, O bande
Mahal maaṛiyaa aur kabeelaa kaam na aayegaa
Ant samay ik dharma hee keval, saath nibhaayegaa
Peechhe na phir pachhataanaa, O bande
Dhan kaa kamaanaa achha hai par dharma-anusaar kamaa
Bhookhe nange kee kar sevaa ise baaṭ kar khaa
Na samajh kise begaanaa, O bande
Desh dharma par lage teraa dhan bhaamaashaah ban jaa
Nandlaal dhan diyaa prabhu ne isko saphal banaa
Shobhaa phir kare zamaanaa, O bande
O friend, this wealth that you have so much pride in, it neither goes with you, nor passes you over life.
Wealth accumulates with false intent, hoaxes, and lies, and in the process, corrupts and kills oneself because our wealth becomes our religion and our lives and love is attached to this false wealth. No honest work attracts us anymore.
Wealth and possession become our family and the focus of our work. However, at the end of life, only one dharma will accompany us, not the false wealth.
Let us put our efforts towards a righteous lifestyle and honest earnings. Let us serve the hungry and needy. Let us share what we have without trying to question those who beg.
Let our righteous duty inspire us to spend our wealth for our country and for a good cause. Become like Bhamaasaah, the historical leader who was patriotic, kind, and charitable. Beautify your life with your good lifestyle as you get older.
