चिंगारी कोई भड़के, तो सावन उसे बुझाये
सावन जो अगन लगाये, उसे कौन बुझाये?
पतझड़ जो बाग उजाड़े, वो बाग़ बहार खिलाये
जो बाग़ बहार में उजड़े, उसे कौन खिलाये?

हमसे मत पूछो कैसे, मंदिर टुटा सपनों का
लोगों की बात नहीं है, ये किस्सा है अपनों का
कोई दुश्मन ठेस लगाये, तो मीत जिया बहलाये
मनमीत जो घांव लगाये, उसे कौन मिटाये?

ना जाने क्या हो जाता, जाने हम क्या कर जाते
पीते हैं तो जिन्दा हैं, ना पीते तो मर जाते
दुनिया जो प्यासा रखे, तो मदिरा प्यास बुझाये
मदिरा जो प्यास लगाये, उसे कौन बुझाये?

माना तूफां के आगे, नहीं चलता ज़ोर किसी का
मौजों का दोष नहीं है, ये दोष है और किसी का
मझधार में नैया डोले, तो मांझी पार लगाये
मांझी जो नाव डुबोये, उसे कौन बचाये?

A spark can be extinguished by the rain; but when the rain storm lights a fire, who can ever quench it? When the autumn season dries a garden, the spring season would follow and bring it to life; but when the garden is destroyed by the spring season, how can it ever grow again?

Do not query as to why the temple of dreams has broken down. The sad story behind is no one’s other than my own. Oh, when an enemy strikes a blow, then a friend can cheer me up, but when a soulmate deals that blow, who will cause it to heal?

I do not know what to do or where to go. When I feel as though the imbibing gives me life and without it, there seems to be no life. When one is thirsty for wine, then wine can quench, but if the wine creates the thirst, who will quench it?

We all know that no one may be strong to face a storm. Waves are not to be blamed if someone dares to show a bluff. If one is midstream and his boat quivers, then the pilot can steer it ashore. But if the pilot sinks the ship, who shall bring it ashore?
