Aaghaa-raavaagyaa-aahutih: Two directional oblations1
Make oblations in the Northern side of the Fire:
ओम् अग्नये स्वाहा।
इदमग्नये इदं न मम।

Make oblations in the Southern side of the Fire:
ओं सोमाय स्वाहा।
इदं सोमाय इदं न मम।

ओं सजूर्देवेन सवित्रा सजूरात्र्येन्द्रवत्या। जुषाणो अग्निर्वेतु स्वाहा।

- Two mantras: we make oblations to the northern and southern edges of the fire – let any force that pulls us in opposing directions be vanquished: may we develop the strength to pull our attention, forces and concentration to the centre (God).

- The previous two mantras were to the northern and southern edges of the fire; for the following two mantras, we make ghee oblations to the center of the fire, symbolizing our desire to always return to the pathway of God.

- If Havan is done both morning and afternoon, then these Pradhaan Homa mantras are chanted only in Morning (and not in the afternoon). If havan is done once per day or less frequently, then these mantras are chanted along with the Ahitaagni mantras (below) – that is, whether havan is done in the morning or afternoon, if it is once a day or once a week, then both sets of mantras are chanted.
