Gayatree Mantra: Three oblations (or as many times as desired)1
ओं भूर्भुवः स्वः।
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् स्वाहा।
Om bhoor-bhuvaḥ-svaḥ.
Tat savitur vareṇyam bhargo devasya dheemahi.
Dhiyo yo nah pracho-dayaat
svaahaa.2
पूर्णाहुत्याः – Poorṇa-ahuti
Final Offering: Chant this mantra three times and make the three final oblations
ओं सर्वं वै पूर्णं स्वाहा।
Om sarvam vai poorṇam svaahaa.3
Iti Agnihotram
- For the offering of extra oblations, chant the Gaayatree Mantra thrice, or as many times as desired
- The Gayatri Mantra can be found in the Yajur Veda 36.3, Yajur Veda 3.35, and Rig Veda 3.62.10. The Yajur Veda 36.3 has the version Om bhoor bhuvah svah. Tat savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dheemahi. Dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat. The Yajur Veda 3.35 and Rig Veda 3.62.10 has the version without the first three words, (Om bhoor bhuvah svah) the mantra reads: Tat savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dheemahi. Dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat.
