Bindiya chamkegee

Bindiya chamkegee, chooṛee khankegee
Teree neend uṛe te uṛ jaaye
Kajra behkega, gajraa mehkegaa
Maahi rus daaye te rus jaaye

Maine maana huaa too diwaanaa, zulaam tere saath huaa
Mài kahàà le jaaoo apne laung kaa lashkaaraa
Is lashkaare se, aake dwaare se
Chal mud daaye te muṛ jaaye

Bole kangna kiseeka oh sajnaa, jawaanee pe. zor nahèè
Laakh manaa karle duniya kehte hain mere ghungroo
Paayal baajegi, gori naachegi
Chhat tut deeye te tut jaaye

Maine tujhse mohabbat ki hài, ghulaami nahèè kee balmaa
Dil kisee ka toote chaahe koi mujhse roothhe
Mài to kheloongi, mài to chhedoongi
Yaari tut deeye te tut jaaye

Mere aangan baraat leke saajan, tu jis raat aayegaa
Mài na baithhoongi ḍolee mài keh doongee baabul se
Mài na jaaoongee, mài na jaaoongee
Gaṛee ṭur deeye te ṭur jaaye

The mark on my forehead dazzles and the ornaments on me make sounds; if you’re disturbed, then so be it. I will darken my tempting eyes with kohl, and wear fragrant flowers. If my lover gets annoyed then so be it.

I agree, that life is difficult for you. What can I do if the brightness of my nose jewel is overpowering? Due to this brightness, someone at the door. One cannot turn away from this beautiful brightness.

My bangles say, my dear, no one has any control over feelings of youth. I don’t care what the world says, but the bells on my anklets say. That the beauty will dance – the anklet will be heard. If by my dancing the glass bangles break then so be it.

I am in love with you but not your slave even if your heart breaks or if you are angry with me. I will be playful and will tease you; if the friendship breaks then so be it.

When you come to my door steps to marry me? I will not leave with you and I will tell my father. I will not go; if the vehicle leaves then so be it.
