Meree dostee meraa pyaar

Koyee jab rah naa paaye
mere sang aaye
Ke pag pag deep jalaaye
Meree dostee meraa pyaar

Jeevan kaa yahee hai dastoor
Pyaar binaa akelaa majboor
Dosti ko maane to sab dukh dur
Koyee kaahe ṭhokar khaaye,
mere sang aaye

Dono ke hai roop hajaar,
Par meree sune jo sansaar
Dosti hai bhaee to bahanaa hai pyaar
Koyee mat nain churaaye
mere sang aaye

Pyar kaa hai pyaar hee naam,
Kahee meera kahee ghanshyam
Dosti kaa yaaro nahee koyee dhaam
Koyee kahi door naa jaye
mere sang aaye

True friendship is like a burning torch, always giving the light necessary to move us onward. If you cannot find your path in this world, then follow me, my friend.

Without friendship there is only loneliness – this is a principle of life. Believing in true friendship can guide me away from sorrows. Why should someone suffer in darkness (of ignorance) when friendship can brighten his path?

Love and friendship are of many forms. Let the world listen to my message; Friendship is like a brother and love is like a sister. Do not leave me alone, come into my company.

The only name for love is ‘love’ – whether love is imparted by Meera, or by Krishna. Friendship is a universal aspect of life; it is not confined to one place only. Do not wander away, let us face our life together with friendship (as our bond).

Dosti (1964) Singer – Mohamed Rafi
