Bhaarat kee ik sannaaree kee
ham kathaa sunaate hai
Mithilaa kee Raajdulaaree kee
ham kathaa sunaate haI
Shiv dhanuṣh Raam ne ṭoṛaa,
milaa chandra chakor kaa joṛaa
Janakpuree se naataa toṛaa,
Awadhpuree se joṛaa
Komal thee wo kalee,
sukho me palee,
bano me chalee
Bahut dukh paaye
Sunkar unkee vyathaa
nain bhar aate hal
Raavan ne chhal karee,
Siyaa ko haree,
Vidhi kyaa karee,
Jo thaa ban paayee
Seetaa Seetaa kare,
virah me jare
band me phire
Vikal Raghuraayee
Pawan-putra vahaa aaye,
sudhi ko dhaaye
Yukti bahu keenhi
Siyaa sudhi paayee
Raam kop kar baṛhe
Lank par chaṛhe,
phook dai Lankaa
Siyaa lowtaayee
Jaise diya mė tel
tel mė baaṭ
baaṭ mė tej prakaase
Taise Raam hridai mė Siyaa,
Siyaa hiya Raam hi bhaase
Kyaa binaa praan ke amar
dahee kahee dehee
Kahaa Vaidehee?
Let us listen to the story of a graceful and respected Sita, the darling of the royal Mithala family.
When the great Raam broke the Shivadhanush (Shiva’s bow), Sita happily got married to him and left her home city to be with Raama. Soft and luxurious upbringing and happy childhood days were cast aside as she had to soon walk in the jungle barefooted. This story brings tears to the eyes of all.
Treacherous Ravana tricked Sita and kidnapped her. What could Sita do? In despair and desperation, Raama walked the forest crying for Sita.
The great Pavanputra Hanuman came to assist Rama. They strategize and eventually defeated Lanka and Ravana, bringing Sita back.
Like oil in a lamp that allows light to be upon a wick, the light of Sita shines in the heart of Raam. What is light without its source, what is immortality without the soul? And where, O where are our Sita and Raama today?
Movie: Ram Rajya (1943)
