Jaòò kahàà bataae dil duniyaa baṛee hai sangdil
Chaandnee aayee ghar jalaane, Soojhe naa koee manzil

Banke ṭooṭe yahàà aarazoo ke mahal
Ye zameen aasamaan bhee gaye hai badal
Kahtee hai zindagee is jahàà se nikal

Haay is paar to aasuo ke ḍagar
Jaane us paar kyaa ho kise hai khabar
Ṭhokare khaa rahee har kadam par nazar

Where can I go, please tell me oh heart. This world is very cruel. The moonlight has come to emblazon my house, but I can see no destination ahead.

The palaces of desire that once stood here have now crumbled. This earth and sky too are changed. Life tells me to leave this world.

This side is but a pathway of tears. What is on the other side, who knows? Here we stumble at each step and each glance.
