श्रीश्च त्वा यशश्च पूर्वे सन्धौ गोपायेताम् ।

Shreeshcha tvaa yashcha poorve sandhau gopaayetaam.¹

O Almighty Lord, may your blessings be with us at this front of our home. May we always enjoy your protection from the eastern direction. Please bless us with an abundance of prosperity.

श्रीश् abundant, created, creation त्वा you यश worthy, wealth पूर्वे east सन्धौ totality, together, joining, abundance गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

केता च मा सुकेता च पुरस्ताद्गोपायेतामित्यग्निर्वै केतादित्यः सुकेता तौ प्रपद्ये 
ताभ्यां नमोऽस्तु तौ मा पुरस्ताद्गोपायेताम् ।

Ketaa cha maa suketaa cha purastaad-
gopaayetaam-ityagnir-vaih keta-adityah
suketaa tau prapadye taabhyaam
namo’stu tau maa purastaad-gopaayetaam.²

O Almighty Lord, our humble salutations to you from this, the front of our home. Please bless us and our home with health and happiness. May the Eastern direction be blissful to us. May the front of our home be preserved and protected so only those with good intentions can approach and enter. May our house always be well-lit and accommodative.

केता house, abode, dwelling च and म not me असुकेता pain, sorrow (सुकेता benevolence, good intentions) च and पुरस्तात् in front, at beginning, eastward गोपायेताम् preserve, protect इति so, thus अग्नि god, energy केता house, abode, dwelling अदित्यः sun, solar, sunlight, day सुकेता benevolence, good intentions तौ प्रपद्ये enter ताभ्यां for these नमोऽस्तु salutations पुरस्तात् in front, at beginning, eastward गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

यज्ञश्च त्वा दक्षिणा च दक्षिणे सन्धौ गोपायेताम् ।

Yagyashcha tvaa dakshiṇaa cha dakshine sandhau gopaayetaam.³

O Almighty Lord, you are our God, and we worship you in this Yagya. May your grace and protection be with us at this side of our home.

यज्ञ This yagya, this agnihotra and त्वा you, your दक्षिणा at the right side of home च and दक्षिणे for the right side of the home सन्धौ totality, together, joining, abundance गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

दक्षिणतो गोपायमानं च मारक्षमाणा च दक्षिणतो
गोपायेतामित्यहर्वै गोपायमानं रात्री रक्षमाणा ते 
प्रपद्ये ताभ्यां नमोऽस्तु ते मा दक्षिणतो गोपायेताम् ।

Dakshiṇato gopaaya-maanam cha maa-rakshamaaṇaa cha
dakshiṇato gopaayetaam-ityaharvai gopaayamaanam
raatree rakshamaaṇaa te prapadye taabhyaam
namo’stu te maa dakshiṇato gopaayetaam.⁴

O Lord, our Protector, our humble salutations to you from this, the southern right side of our home. Please preserve and protect our home from this right side and the southern side. Please always protect us from any untreatable diseases and illnesses. May your protection be with us night and day.

दक्षिणतो in the southern south गोपायमानम् preserve, protect च and मारक्षमाणा destroy any disease or ravaging illness च and दक्षिणतो from south गोपायेताम् preserve, protect इति thus, so अहरहः day अहर्वै invite, summon, call गोपायमानम् preserve, protect रात्री night रक्षमाणा continued protection ते you प्रपद्ये enter ताभ्यां for these नमोऽस्तु salutations दक्षिणतो in the south गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

अन्नञ्च त्वा ब्राह्मणाश्च पश्चिमे सन्धौ गोपायेताम् ।

Annancha tvaa braahmaṇaashcha pashchime sandhau gopaayetaam.⁵

O Lord, may we enjoy your protection from the western direction. May the rear side of our home be protected and preserved. May we never be at risk of losing food or the good company of wise persons.

अन्न grains, food त्वा you, your ब्राह्मणाश् wise ones पश्चिमे in the west सन्धौ totality, together, joining, abundance गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

दीदिविश्च भा जागृविश्च पश्चाद्गोपायेतामित्यन्नं वै दीदिविः प्राणो जागृविस्तौ 
प्रपद्ये ताभ्यां नमोऽस्तु तौ मा पश्चाद्गोपायेताम् ।

Dee-divishcha maa jaagrivish-cha
pashchaad-gopaayetaam-ityannam vai
dee-divih praaṇo jaagrivistau prapadye taabhyaam
namo’stu tau maa pashchad-gopaayetaam.⁶

O Lord, our humble salutations to you from this rear side of our home. Please always preserve and protect our home. May we never lose anything through inattentiveness or carelessness. May our air and surroundings always be clear and good.

दीदिविश् shining, bright भा not जागृवि attentive, watchful पश्चात् behind, at back गोपायेताम् preserve, protect इति thus, so अन्न grains, food वैदी wise, sciences दिविः heavenly, atmosphere प्राणो vital air जागृव active, attentive अस्तु be so प्रपद्ये enter ताभ्यां for these नमोऽस्तु salutations गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

ऊर्क्च त्वा सूनृता चोत्तरे सन्धौ गोपायेताम् ।

Oorkcha tvaa soonritaa chottare sandhau gopaayetaam.⁷

May the left side of our home be protected. May the northern direction bring us abundance and happiness. 

ऊर्क् food and abundance त्वा you सूनृत pleasant, agreeable च and उत्तरे north सन्धौ totality, together, joining, abundance गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

अस्वप्नश्च मानवद्राणश्चोत्तरतो गोपायेतामिति चन्द्रमा वा अस्वप्नो वायुरनवद्रानस्तौ 
प्रपद्ये ताभ्यां नमोस्तु तौ मोत्तरतो गोपायेताताम् ।

Ashvap-nashcha maanav-adraaṇash-chottarato
gopaayetaamiti chandramaa vaa asvapno
vaayurana-vadraanastau prapadye taabhyaam
namo’stu tau mottarato gopaayetaam.⁸

O Lord, our humble salutations to you from this left side of our home. May you always guard our home from anyone disturbing our home or family. Please preserve and protect us in our house.

अस्वप्न watchful, vigilant मानव humans अर्दन disturbance च and उत्तर north गोपायेताम् preserve, protect इति thus, so चन्द्रमा lunar, moon वा or, is अस्वप्नो vigilant वायुर wind, air न for us अर्दन disturbance प्रपद्ये enter ताभ्यां for these नमोऽस्तु salutations उत्तर north म not गोपायेताम् preserve, protect

धर्मस्थूणा राजा श्रीस्तूपमहोरात्रे द्वारफलके । 
इन्द्रस्य गृहावसुमन्तो वरूथिनस्तानहं प्रपद्ये सह प्रजया पशुभि: सह । 
यन्मे किञ्चिदस्त्युपहूत: सर्वगणसखाय साधुसम्मतः । 
तान्त्वा शालेऽरिष्टवीरा गृहान्न: सन्तु सर्वत: ॥ 

Dharmasthooṇaa raajam shree-stoopam-ahoraatre dvaaraphalake.
Indrasya grihaa-vasumanto varoothinas-taanaham prapadye saha prajayaa pashubhih saha.
Yanme kinchidastyu-pahootah sarvagaṇa-sakhaaya saadhu-sammatah.
Taantvaa shaale’riṣhṭaveeraa grihaannah santu sarvatah.⁹

Salutations and Homage to you, O Almighty Protector of our lives! We invoke your blessings and protection for our home night and day. May the structure and substructures of our home, its pillars, its columns, roof, walls, and floor all be sturdy and secure. May this central space in our home be bright and happy. May our home always be cheerful and comfortable. May we be contented in our home. O Master of the world, please bless us with wealth, health, and the company of the wise. May the wisdom of the saints be with us. May we be free from harm and worry. May the children of our home be brave. May your blessings be all over our home.

धर्मस्थूणा pillars of dharma राजा chief, main श्री wealth, glory स्तूप top, summit अहोरात्र day and night द्वारफलके door-keeper इन्द्रस्य Powerful Ruler गृहवत् householder सुमन्त favorable, cheerful and comfortable वरूथिन् guard, protector, defender अस्तान place अहम् I, me  प्रपद्ये enter सह along with  प्रजया offspring, children पशुभि: property, possessions, wealth यन्मे in the center किम् what, which च and दस्त्यु hurt, challenged उपहूत: invoked, challenged, summoned सर्व all गणसखाय many acquaintances or many freinds साधुसम्मतः widsom and understanding of the saints तान् they त्वा you, us शाले home, house अरिष्टवीरा safe and untouched brave heroes गृहान्न: luxurious home or home and foods सन्तु contentment सर्वत: all around

सर्वे भवन्तोऽत्रानन्दितः सदा भूयासुः ॥

Sarve bhavanto’tra-ananditah sadaa bhooyaasuh.

May you be happy here in this home. May delight and joy always surround you over and over again.

भवन्तु shall be अत्र here आनन्दित delighted, happy, cheerful सदा always भूयासुः exceeding, again
