  1. Lighting of fire is symbolic and a physical act. While the physical flame is lit to enable the Agnihotra and the burning of Ghee & Samagree (purifying of the atmosphere), the symbolic flame should be lit in the heart chakra to help the aspiring devotee in his Yogic practices and the elevation of the Kundalini. While a fire burns whatever comes into contact with it, may the spiritual flame burn all negative forces and all bad habits from within the mind so that the holy, pure & evolved human emerges at the end of the Agnihotra.
  2. Gobhil Grihyasurta 1.1.11
  3. Yajur Veda 3.5
  4. The awakening and ‘growth’ of the flame is physical as well as symbolical. May the flame arise to serve the intended purpose of burning the Ahutis offered into it; may it assure the conversion of the ingredients for the sake of purification of the atmosphere; may the rising flames symbolize the rising of the kundalini shakti, leading to our mental and spiritual evolution
  5. Yajur Veda 15.54
