Vivaah Sanskaar (Short)

Laajaa-Ahuti (Offering of parched grains)

Standing, facing east, the bride’s hand is palm upwards into the palm of the groom. The bride’s brother puts some of the parched grains into the bride’s palm.

Make three offerings of the parched grains with these mantras1:

Fire represents energy, and energy is inherent in the flow of matter in the universe. May all the positive energies flow onto us. May I successfully transition from the comforts of my parents’ home into the future home of my husband and I. May we remain together. May this fire reflect the effectiveness of our vows.

O Lord, by your grace, may my husband be blessed with a long and healthy life. May the members of my family flourish with happiness and prosperity.

O lord, these oblations of roasted grains are made for our prosperity and progress. May there always be great affection between us. May we be blessed with prosperity and progress.
