Ahitaagni Homa: Evening oblations1

ओम् अग्निर्ज्योतिर्ज्योतिरग्निः स्वाहा

Om agnir-jyotir-jyotir-agnih svaahaa.2

Homage to agni God whose jyotih light and energy is the jyotih source of light and agnih fire, heat and energy.

अग्निः God, Cause of energy ज्ोतिर source of energy ज्योतिः energy itself अग्निः fire स्वाहा I adore, appreciate (homage to)

ओम् अग्निर्वर्चोज्ज्योतिर्वर्चः स्वाहा

Om agnir-varcho-jyotir-varchah svaahaa.3

Homage to agni Creator whose varchah lustre jyotih illumines the lustrious.

अग्निः The guiding light वर्चो glorious one, one of light ज्ोतिर light वर्चाः luminous स्वाहा I adore, appreciate (homage to)

Om sajoor-devena savitraa sajoo-raatryendra-vatyaa.
Juṣhaano agnir-vetu svaahaa.6

O sajooh Illuminator, You are our devena effulgent savitraa Creator who, even in raatryaa the hours of night, is indravatyaa resplendent with glory of light, fire and energy. Your jushanah positive force is agnih energy, through which you are vetu present and effervescent. You are our ultimate reality. Homage to sajoohdevena wholesome dispeller of darkness, the savitraa life-force that, together with sajooh wisdom is raatrendra vatyaa jushaana agnir vetu spread through the night in unison with Light.

सजू with, also complete, wholesome देवेन effulgent, bright सवित्रा Creator, life-force ाजू with रात्र्ा night इन्द्रवत्ा resplendent, glorious जुषाणो union with, in unison अग्निर्वेतु अग्निः fire, light वेतू acquire and spread स्वाहा homage to

  1. If Havan is done both morning AND afternoon, then these Ahitaagni Homa mantras are chanted only in Evening (and not in the morning). If havan is done once per day or less frequently, then these mantras are chanted along with the Ahitaagni mantras (below) – that is, whether havan is done in morning or afternoon, if it is once a day or once a week, then both sets of mantras are chanted.
