Pradhaan Homa: Morning oblations with Ghee and Samagri1
ओं सूर्यो ज्योतिर्ज्योतिः सूर्यः स्वाहा।
Om sooryo jyotir-jyotiḥ sooryaḥ svaahaa.2
Translation
We contemplate the Supreme Reality, the Prime Cause of the universe. We acknowledge God as both the internal Source of light and the manifest light itself, as witnessed in the sun. We recognize that the observer and the observed are sustained by the same energy.
ओं सूर्यो वर्चो ज्योतिर्वर्चः स्वाहा।
Om sooryo varcho jyotir-varchaḥ svaahaa.3
Translation
We contemplate the Creator (Soorya), whose supreme radiance is the source of all illumination. We acknowledge that it is strictly by His glory and power (Varchas) that the physical world becomes lustrous, vibrant, and full of vitality.
ओं ज्योतिः सूर्यः सूर्यो ज्योतिः स्वाहा।
Om jyotiḥ sooryaḥ sooryo jyotiḥ svaahaa.4
Translation
We acknowledge the immutable link between the Supreme Cause (Divine Energy) and its physical Effects (Gravity, Heat, and Light). By this tribute, we actively cultivate the blissful awareness that dispels the darkness of ignorance.
ओं सजूर्देवेन सवित्रा सजूरुषसेन्द्रवत्या। जुषाणः सूर्यो वेतू स्वाहा।
Om sajoor-devena savitraa
sajoor-uṣha-sendra-vatyaa.
Juṣhaaṇaḥ sooryo vetu svaahaa.5
Translation
The Sun is Light, the Light is Sun combined,
The Prime Creator of the soul and mind;
From Him the brilliance of the world descends,
On Him the harmony of life depends.
As glorious dawn announces coming day,
And drives the shadows of the night away;
May Divine Wisdom in our hearts take root,
To bear the seeds of peace as holy fruit.
Within this fire, the sacred offerings blend,
To every corner of the earth they send;
A purified and sweet, medicinal air,
To answer every selfless, silent prayer.
We contemplate the Dispeller of Darkness—the continuous life-force that animates every cell. Just as the glorious dawn (Uṣhasaa) inevitably heralds the arrival of the sun, we align our actions so that Divine Wisdom may spread through our lives in perfect unison, acquiring and radiating brilliance everywhere.

- If Havan is done both morning and afternoon, then these Pradhaan Homa mantras are chanted only in Morning (and not in the afternoon). If havan is done once per day or less frequently, then these mantras are chanted along with the Ahitaagni mantras (below) – that is, whether havan is done in the morning or afternoon, if it is once a day or once a week, then both sets of mantras are chanted.
