Vedic Havan

The Leading Light, the Priest of all that’s pure,
Whose ancient laws and seasons shall endure;
The Luminous One, the Giver and the Guide,
In whose great Truth all noble souls abide.

The Source of jewels, of wisdom, and of grace,
Who leads us on through every time and space;
To Him we bow, the Master of the Flame,
And find our peace within His holy Name.

We contemplate and adore the Supreme Energy (Agni) which precedes all creation (Purohitam). We acknowledge the Divine as the host of all creative power (Yajña) and the ultimate Luminous Guide of the world. We align with the Sustainer of all that is precious (Ratnadhaatamam)—from the gems of the earth to the stars of the galaxies—recognizing Him as the only source worthy of worship across all time³.

अग्निम् Supreme energy, fire ईळे Adore, praise पुरोहितम् Existed even before this cycle of creation; leader यज्ञस्य Creative power, honor, good deeds देवम् Enlightens; light of the world ऋत्विजम् Creator; One worthy of worship through all time होतारम् Giver and receiver; originator; one who hosts everything by own energy रत्नधातमम् Sustainer of everything precious.

As a father to his child, stay ever near,
To guide our steps and quiet every fear;
O All-knowing One, to us Your presence give,
That in Your peace and welfare we may live.

To those who walk with spirit light and free,
Unbound by things that eyes can only see;
Bring us the bliss that comes from Thee alone,
And make the nectar of Thy mercy known.

We recognize the Divine as the Ultimate Sustainer and Father (Pitaa) to all. We acknowledge that the All-Knowing God is easily accessible (soopaayanaḥ) to the seeker who is unattached to material greed. Through this communion, we strive to unite (sachasva) our actions with the Divine Law to cultivate peace, benevolence, and true prosperity (svastaye) in our lives.

स: He नः: To us पिता Father इव Like सूनवे For the child अग्ने All knowledge सूपायनः Easily accessible भव Be सचस्वा Unite; worshipper without possessions नः to us स्वस्तये For our welfare.

May stars and sun in cosmic dance above,
Bring us the fruits of wisdom and of love;
Through scientific eyes, let us explore,
The wonders of the vast and stellar shore.

May moving worlds and earth’s providing hand,
Bring health and peace to all across the land;
May life-giving nature, bold and bright,
Constantly fill our lives with holy light.

May our scientific exploration and understanding of the luminous bodies (Aśhvinaa) in space—the stars, sun, planets, moon, and the wider cosmos—serve the highest good. May we live in harmony with these constantly rotating bodies and with the Indestructible Earth (Aditi), which selflessly provides for our needs. We align our intellects (Suchetunaa) to live in harmony with these moving cosmic forces, ensuring that our expanding knowledge of the universe constantly inspires well-being and benefits all of humanity.

स्वस्ति Peace, well-being नः to us मिमीताम् Do or grant अश्विन Teachers, wise ones, or luminous bodies (sun, moon, etc.) भगः Pure environment (healthy water, air, etc.) देवी Luminous, Radiant One अदितिः Indestructible earth or planet अनरवनः In motion; active, duty-bound persons पूषा Invigorating असुरः Life-giving nature दधातु may give नः to us द्यावा Heavens or cosmos पृथिवी Planets or earth सुचेतुना Scientifically explored or examined

Grant us the knowledge of the winds and tides,
And of the healing power that nature hides;
May Bṛhaspati, Protector of worlds in the sky,
Uplift our wisdom as the years go by.

May scholars rise to spread this light of truth,
To guide the old and inspire our youth;
That every science of the world we see,
May serve the good of all humanity.

We acknowledge the Almighty Protector (Bṛihaspati)of all galaxies and worlds, who is also the Bhuvanasya Patiḥ—the master and protector of the atmospheric forces (Vaayu), the moon (Soma), and the resources of the Earth. We recognize this Divine Intelligence as the sustainer of all planetary systems and life-forms. We commit to the diligent dissemination (Upabravaamahai) of this scientific and spiritual knowledge through realized scholars (aadityaasaḥ), ensuring that our understanding of the cosmos serves the ultimate elevation and welfare of society.

स्वस्तये Welfare or well-being वायुम् Air or atmosphere उप above, upper ब्रवामहै Disseminate सोमम् The moon भुवनस्य पतिः Protector of the world (focal point, sun) बृहस्पतिम् Protector of all planets, galaxies, and worlds सर्वगणम् Sustainer of all life आदित्यासः Scholars भवन्तु may be नः to us

May all the wise and radiant ones combine,
To keep our hearts within the Law Divine;
With well-intentioned minds, let us be led,
By paths where ancient, holy feet have tread.

O Lord of Justice, guard us from all sin,
That purity of soul may reign within;
From every crooked thought or dark design,
Protect us with Your providence divine.

We recognize the All-Knowing, Radiant One (Agni) as the brightest source of well-being. We acknowledge the Ṛibhavaḥ—the brilliant scientists, scholars, and leaders entrusted with wisdom—to fiercely protect the integrity of the scriptures and the laws of nature. May their enlightened guidance (Devaaḥ) support our progress. Acknowledging God as Rudra—the ultimate enforcer of Cosmic Law—we vow to protect ourselves from the sinful path (aṃhasaḥ) by adhering strictly to the consequences of our own actions and the path of righteousness.

विश्वे देवाः Scholars of the world; lords of knowledge and senses नः to us अद्य Now; present time वैश्वानरः Brightest and purest वसुः Radiant and ubiquitous अग्निः all-knowing God देवाः learned one अवन्तु Support or protect us ऋभवः Protectors of the scriptures रुद्रः Punisher of the wicked or sinful पातु protect, govern अंहसः From trouble or sin.

Bless every breath we draw both in and out,
Remove the shadows of despair and doubt;
Grant us the wealth of health and spirit bold,
On righteous paths that ancient seers have told.

O Everlasting Friend, our Master and Guide,
In Your protection let our souls reside;
May health and rich prosperity increase,
To fill our homes with happiness and peace.

We contemplate the All-Knowing Lord as our ever-present benefactor. We acknowledge the necessity of regulating our Vital Breath (Mitra-Varuṇaa) to support our biological sustenance. By aligning with the Vedic Path (Pathye), we strive to manifest vibrant health and Abundant Prosperity (Revati) for the benefit of all.

स्वस्ति Welfare or well-being मित्रावरूणा Healthy, friendly, and blessed in-breath and out-breath पथ्ये The Vedic path रेवति Abundant, rich, or brilliant prosperity नः to us इन्द्रः Lord or leader च and अग्निः All-knowing अदिते Imperishable or ever-present कृधि Perform, make, or produce.

Like sun and moon that travel through the sky,
May we on paths of peace and mercy fly;
With constant step and wisdom in our gaze,
To follow righteous ways through all our days.

Among the wise and kind, let us be found,
Where non-violence and charity abound;
May we be selfless, giving of our best,
And in the company of the good be blessed.

We recognize the path of peace and compassion as our highest duty. Just as the Sun and Moon (Sooryaa-chandramasaa) shine consistently for the benefit of all, we commit to acting with wisdom and selflessness. We declare our intent to remain in the (samgamemahi) company of the Honorable and Non-violent (aghnataa), ensuring our actions consistently elevate those around us.

स्वस्ति Welfare or well-being पन्था Path or journey अनु चरेम Act wisely toward good actions सूर्याचन्द्रमसाविव Like the sun and moon पुनः Over and over, for your own good ददता Charitable or giving अघ्नता Non-violent जानता Knowledgeable or wise संगमेमहि Good company and harmony with the honorable.
