आचमनम्Aachamanam

Sipping of water
For each mantra, take a little water in the right palm and sip at the end of the mantra1

ओम् अमृतोपस्तरणमसि स्वाहा

Om amrit-opastara-ṇamasi svaahaa.

O Lord, you are the immortal and ever-living foundation of my life.

अमृत imperishable, nectar that gives everlasting life उपस्तरणम् basis, foundation असि are

ओम् अमृतापिधानमसि स्वाहा

Om amritaa-pidhaanam-asi svaahaa.

Lord, you are the immortal and ever-living shelter and cover of my life.

अमृत imperishable, immortal, nectar of life अपिधानम् cover, overarching protector असि are

ओं सत्यं यशः श्रीर्मयि श्रीः श्रयतां स्वाहा

Om satyam yashah shreer-mayi shreeh shrayataam svaahaa.2

Lord, please let truth, fame, physical prosperity, and intellectual prosperity be always well-placed in me.

सत्यम् truth, reality; in context, सत्यम् is an embodiment of truth यशः renown, fame श्रीः prosperity मयि in me श्रीः supporting knowledge of prosperity, that is, how to live a prosperous life श्रयताम् be placed
