Vivaah Sanskaar (Short)

ओं भूर्भुवः स्वः। त्वमर्यमा भवसि यत्कनीनां नाम स्वधावनगुह्यं विभर्षि।
अञ्जन्ति मित्रं सुधितं न गोभिर्यद्दम्पती समनसा कृणोषि स्वाहा ॥
इदमग्नये इदन्न मम ॥¹

Om bhoor bhuvah svah.
Twam-aryamaa bhavasi yat-kaneenaam
naama svadhaa-van guhyam vibharṡhi.
Aṅg-janti mitram sudhitam na gobhir
Yaddampati samana-saa krinoṡhi svaahaa.
Idam agnaye idanna mama.

O Lord! You are the source of happiness and bliss. You are the regulator of everyone and everything. Be blissful to us, O Lord. May the married couple always be inclined towards your noble path. May their minds be in harmony. May they attract wise friends and perform their noble duties.

ओमृताषाड् ऋतधामाग्निर्गन्धर्वः।
स न इदं ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पातु तस्मै स्वाहा वाट्॥
इदमृताषाहे ऋताधाम्नेऽग्नये गन्धर्वाय इदन्न मम  ॥⁴

Om ṛitaa-ṡhaaḍ ṛita-dhaa-maagnir gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram
paatu tasmai svaahaa-vaaṭ.
Idam ṛitaa-ṡhaahe ṛita-dhaamne agnaye
gan-dhar-vaaya idanna mama.

God is the creator and upholder of universal laws. He is the source of protection for our intellect and our society. The outcome of the future lies in God’s power. To him, we humbly submit.

ओमृताषाड् ऋतधामाग्निर्गन्धर्वस्तस्यौषधयोऽप्सरसो  मुदो नाम। ताभ्यः स्वाहा ॥

इदं इदमोषधिभ्योऽप्सरोभ्यः इदन्न मम ॥⁵

Om ṛitaaśhaaḍ ṛita-dhaama-agnir
Gandharvas-tasy-oṣhadhayo
apasara-so mudo naama taabhya svaahaa.

Idam oṣha-dhibhyo apsaro bhyah idanna mama.

God is the creator and upholder of universal laws. He has provided the waters and the medicinal herbs for our comfort and protection. The outcome of the future lies in God’s power. To him, we humbly submit.

ओं संहितो विश्वसामा सूर्यो गन्धर्वः।
स न इदं ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पातु तस्मै स्वाहा वाट्॥
इदं संहिताय विश्वसाम्ने सूर्याय गन्धर्वाय इदन्न मम ॥⁶

Om sam hito vishva-saamaa
Sooryo-gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram
paatu tasmai svaahaa-vaaṭ
Idam sam-hitaaya vishva-saamne sooryaa-ya
gandhar-vaaya idanna mama.

God is the power that views the world with a balanced disposition—just as the sun maintains its glory equally over all of earth. May he continue to be the source of protection for our intellect and our society.

ओं संहितो विश्वसामा सूर्यो गन्धर्वस्तस्य मरीचयोऽप्सरसः आयुवो नाम।  ताभ्यः स्वाहा ॥

इदं मरीचिभ्योऽप्सरोभ्यः आयुभयः इदन्न मम ॥⁷

Om sam hito vishva-saamaa
sooryo gandharvas-tasya mare-chayo
apsarasa aayuvo naam. Taabhya svaahaa.
Idam mare-chi-bhyo apsarobhya
aayubhyah idanna mama.

God is the power that views the world with balanced disposition. The sun, through His grace, maintains its glory equally over all of the Earth and allows for the dispersion of water (vapors) and sunrays that are known for providing life and health.

ओं सुषुम्णः सूर्यरश्मिचन्द्रमा गन्धर्वः।
स न इदं ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पातु तस्मै स्वाहा वाट्॥
इदं सुषुम्णाय सूर्यरश्मये चन्द्रमसे गन्धर्वाय इदन्न मम ॥⁸

Om suṣhumṇah soorya-rashmish
chandramaa gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram
paatu tasmai svaahaa-vaaṭ
Idam suṣumṇaaya soorya-rashma-ye
chandramase gandharvaaya idanna mama

The sun provides its rays and glory to the moon, which holds and reflects these rays in abundance (dispelling the darkness). May these forces be beneficial to the intellect and to our society.

ओं सुषुम्णः सूर्यरश्मिचन्द्रमा गन्धर्वस्तस्य नक्षत्रान्यप्सरसो भेकुरयो नाम।  ताभ्यः स्वाहा ॥
इदं नक्षत्रेभ्योऽप्सरोभ्यो भकुरिभ्यः इदन्न मम ॥⁹

Om suṣumṇah soorya-rashmish-chandrama
Gandharvas-tasya na-ksha-traaṇy-apsaraso
bhekurayo naama. Taabhya svaahaa.
Idam nakshatrebhyo apsarobhyo
bhekuribhyah idanna mama

The sun provides its rays and glory to the moon, which holds and reflects these rays in abundance (dispelling the darkness of night). May the stars and the moon – whose glories are even reflected upon the waters – may they all continue to be auspicious to us.

ओमिषिरो विश्वव्यचा वातो गन्धर्वः।
स न इदं ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पातु तस्मै स्वाहा वाट्॥
इदमिषिराय विश्वव्यचसे वाताय गन्धर्वाय इदन्न मम ॥¹⁰

Om iṣhiro vishva-vyachaa vaato gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram
paatu tasmai svaahaa-vaaṭ
Idam iṣhiraaya vishva-vyachase vaataaya
gandharvaaya idanna mama.

इदमद्भ्योऽप्सरोभ्यऽऊर्ग्भ्य इदन्न मम ॥¹¹

Gandharvas-tas-yaapo
ap-sara-se oorjo naama. Taabhya svaaha
Idam ad-abh-yo ap-saro-bhya-oorj-bhyah
idanna mama.

Om bhuj-yuh suparṇo yagyo gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram

Idam bhuj-yave suparṇaaya yagyaaya gandharvaaya idanna mama.

Those who perform the yagyas and sacrifices play an important role in uplifting the world. May they be a source of protection for the intellect and for society.

ओं भुज्युः सुपर्णो यज्ञो गन्धर्वस्तस्य दक्षिणा अप्सरस स्तावा नाम।  ताभ्यः स्वाहा ॥
इदं दक्षिणाभ्योऽप्सरोभ्यः स्तावाभ्यः इदन्न मम ॥¹³

Om bhuj-yuh suparṇo yagyo gandharvas-tasya
dakshiṇaa ap-sarasa staavaa naam.
Tabhyah svaahaa.
Idam dakshiṇaabhyo apsarobhyah
staavaabhyah idanna mama.

Those who perform the yagyas and sacrifices play an essential role in the upliftment of the world. May the yagyas enhance our lives and promote our ability to share (wealth and love) with everyone. May the yagyas be auspicious to us.

ओं प्रजापतिर्विश्वकर्मा मनो गन्धर्वः।
स न इदं ब्रह्म क्षत्रं पातु तस्मै स्वाहा वाट्॥
इदं प्रजापतये विश्वकर्मणे मनसे गन्धर्वाय इदन्न मम ॥¹⁴

Om prajaapatir vishva-karmaa mano gandharvah.
Sa na idam brahma kshatram
paatu tasmai svaahaa-vaaṭ
Idam prajaapataye vishva-kar-ma-ṇe manase gandharvaaya idanna mama.

God is the master of all actions and the Lord of all creations. He preserves the mind and speech. May our mind and voice come from pure intellect. May our mind and speech benefit all of society.

ओं प्रजापतिर्विश्वकर्मा मनो गन्धर्वस्तस्य। ऋक्सामान्यप्सरस एष्टभ्यो नाम।  ताभ्यः स्वाहा ॥
इदमृक्सामेभ्योप्सरोभ्यः एष्टभ्यः इदन्न मम ॥¹⁵

Om prajaa-patir vishva karmaa
mano gandharvas-tasya rik-saamaany-
apsarasa eṣhṭayo naama. Taabhya svaahaa.
Idam-rik-saam-ebhyo apsaro-bhyah
eṣhṭi-bhyah idanna mama.

God is the master of all actions and the Lord of all creations. He preserves the mind and speech. May our mind and voice come from pure intellect. May the riches of the Vedas be ever present in our minds. May our desires be noble (arising from the spiritual influence of Vedic knowledge). May all of this be auspicious to me.

ओं चित्तं च स्वाहा।
इदं चित्ताया इदन्न मम ॥

Om chittam cha svaahaa.
Idam chittaya idanna mama

O Lord, Bless us with conscience and the ability to analyze.

ओं चित्तिश्च स्वाहा।
इदं चित्त्यै इदन्न मम ॥

Om chi-tish-cha svaahaa
Idam chittyai idanna mama

O Lord, Bless us consciousness and the powers of reflection.

ओमाकूतं च स्वाहा।
इदमाकूताय इदन्न मम ॥

Om aakootim cha svaahaa
Idam akootaaya idanna mama

O Lord, Bless us with the ability to be firm and fair. May we be competent in forming good thoughts.

ओमाकूतिश्च स्वाहा।
इदमाकूत्यै इदन्न मम ॥

Om aakootishcha svaahaa.
Idam aakootyai idanna mama.

O Lord, Bless us with the ability to make the right decisions through good thoughts.

ओं विज्ञातं च स्वाहा।
इदं विज्ञाताय इदन्न मम ॥

Om vigyaatam cha svaahaa.
Idam vigyaataaya idanna mama.

O Lord, inspire us with knowledge of the sciences.

ओं विज्ञातिश्च स्वाहा।
इदं विज्ञातत्यै इदन्न मम ॥

Om vigyaa-tish-cha svaahaa.
Idam vigyaatyai idanna mama.

O Lord, Bless us with a successful life through this knowledge of the sciences.

ओं मनश्च स्वाहा।
इदं मनसे इदन्न मम ॥

Om manash-cha svaahaa.
Idam manase idanna mama.

O Lord, bless us with a powerful mind.

ओं शक्वारीश्च स्वाहा।
इदं शक्वरीभ्य इदन्न मम ॥

Om shak-vareesh-cha svaahaa.
Idam shak-varee-bhyah idanna mama.

O Lord, bless us with noble actions through the power of the mind and good thoughts leading to great actions.

ओं दर्शश्च स्वाहा।
इदं दर्शाया इदन्न मम ॥

Om dar-shash-cha svaahaa.
Idam darshaaya idanna mama.

O Lord, bless us with the power of sacrifice (yagya).

ओं पौर्णमासं स्वाहा। 
इदं पौर्णमासाय इदन्न मम ॥

Om pour-ṇamaasam cha svaahaa.
Idam pour-ṇamaasaaya idanna mama.

O Lord bless us with the positive effects of the full moon – may we, like the full moon, be conscious of our duties even at night.

ओं बृहच्च स्वाहा। 
इदं बृहते इदन्न मम ॥

Om brihach-cha svaahaa.
Idam brihate idanna mama.

May we be aware of the balance of nature and attain greatness through such awareness.

ओं रथन्तरम् च स्वाहा। 
इदं रथंतराय इदन्न मम ॥

Om rathantaram-cha svaahaa.
Idam rathn-taraaya idanna mama.

May we attain blessings through all the forces of the world.

ओं प्रजापतीर्जयानिन्द्राय वृष्णै प्रायच्छदुग्रः पृतना जयेषु ।
तस्मै विशः समनमन्त सर्वाः स उग्र स इहव्यो बभूवा स्वाहा। 
इदं प्रजापतये जयानिन्द्राय इदन्न मम ॥

Om prajaapatir-jayaan-indraaya vriṣhṅai
praayach-chhugrah pritanaa jayeṣhu.
Tasmai vishah samanamanta sarvaah
sa ugra sa ihavyo babhoova svaahaa.
idam prajaapataye jayaanindraaya idanna mama.

May we know the positive forces in the world, practice positive action, and always win over any unhealthy negativity.

Om bhuragnaye svaahaa.
Idam agnaye idanna mama.

ओं भुवर्वायवे स्वाहा।
इदं वायवे इदन्न मम ॥

Om bhuvar-vaayave svaahaa.
Idam vaayave idanna mama.

ओं स्वरादित्याय स्वाहा।
इदमादित्याय इदन्न मम॥

Om svaraadityaaya svaahaa.
Idam aadityaaya idanna mama.
