Rid the world of evil

This Verse 5 from the Gita Dhyaanam is also found in the Krishnaashtakam. It inspires the surrender to God who is the protector and remover of evil.

वसुदेव सुतं देवं कंस चाणूरमर्दनं
देवकी परमानन्दं कृष्णं वंदे जगद्गुरुं

Vasudeva sutam devam
kansa chaaṇoor-mardanam
Devakee paramaanandam
krishṇam vande jagadgurum

I bow to the Lord, the jagat-guru supreme guru of the entire world. He (showed us all) as Lord Krishna (son of Vasudeva and Devaki) that He can help us rid the world of evil (as he did with the evil Kansa and Chaanoora.
Our Lord is the Joy to the world, the teacher of all. We bow in salutations to Him.

वसुदेव Vasudeva, the father of all.Also – the father of Lord Krishna तम् ुत son देवम् bestower of happiness, God, highest order of existence कंस kansa, an evil tyrant, an oppressor (in the puranas). Krishna got rid of Kansa even through Kansa tried to get Krishna killed as a baby. Kansa was also known as a maternal uncle of Krishna ाणूर was a wrestler, warrior for Kamsa मर्दनम dead, killed देवकी Mother, Krishna’s mother परमानन्दम् immense bliss, supreme joy परम् highest, supreme, immense अनन्दम् bliss, joy कृष्णम् to Krishna वंदे I praise (I bow upon/I salute) जगद्गुरुं Spiritual Master of the world जगत् world गुरु teacher, spiritual master
