Protect my intellect

These verses are, traditionally used for lighting lamps and diyas. They recognize God as the divine light. Homage to the divine light through which we get light and enlightenment, They are most popularly used to light diya at diwali.

शुभं करोति कल्याणम् आरोग्यं धन संपदः
शत्रु बुद्धि विनाशाय दीप ज्योतिर्नमोस्तुते

Shubham karoti kalyaaṅam
aarogyam dhana sampadah
shatru buddhi vinaashaaya
deepa jyotir-namostute.

Namostute I bow to (Salutations to) deepa jyoti the light – the dispeller of darkness and the source of light. Please karoti grace my life with shubham all that is good and auspicious, and sampradah and abundance of kalyaanam prosperity, aarogyam health (freedom from diseases) and dhana wealth. Shatru buddhi Please protect my intellect so that it be free from any negative forces that will deflect these blessings.

शुभम् good, auspiciousness करोति make, also – which brings कल्याणम् prosperity आरोग्यम् health (freedom from diseases) धन money, wealth संपदः abundance of wealth शत्रु enemy, foe बुद्धि intellect विनाशाय complete destruction दीप lamp/source of light ज्योतिः light/glow नम्तुते salutations be to you

दीपज्योतिः परब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दनः ।
दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते ॥

Deepa-jyotih parabrahma
Deepa-jyotir-janaardanah.
Deepo haratu me paapam
Deepa-jyotir-namostute

Namostute I bow and give salutations to deep-jyotir para brahm the Supreme Creator, the cause of all lights. Salutations to the Preserver who preserves all light. May this light harantu remove paapam the tendency to sin. Reverential salutations to the Supreme Lord that is light itself.

दीप – lamp; seat of light ज्योतिः – light परब्रह्म the Absolute aspect of God. That aspect that is beyond time, space. The essence of the form and formless, The Highest Consciousness दीप – lamp, seat of light ज्ोतिर  – light र्जनार्दन – God (Lord Vishnu) दीपो lamp/light (object of) हरतु हरतु may remove, may destroy हर removing, destroying मे my पापम् sins, also – villain, crime, evil दीप lamp, seat of light ज्ोतिर light नम्तुते – salutations (नमस् salutations अस्तु let it be)
